Selena Gomez isn't too thrilled with the media portraying her as the wholesome Disney Channel star. She explained to reporters at the Teen Choice Awards:
The funny thing is, I really don’t like it when people say I’m wholesome. I don’t like that at all! I never said I was that and I never tried to portray it. I’m honestly doing what I feel like I’m doing…and I’d just like to figure out who I am.We're sure it's tough to be put in a pedestal and have this public image weighing on you, but at least you're not on the other end of the spectrum, which is home to Miley Cyrus!

I don’t think a lot of people understood what she was really trying to say and they just kind of ran with it…When the interviewer said you’re a good role model, she laughed (like that was a whole other topic that she wasn’t referring to) and said thank you. So it doesn’t mean that she wants to whore it up and I think it just means that she doesn’t like any names being put on her by everybody…she really just doesn’t like being all over the media and she just wants to figure out who she is without having to deal with names being put on her. And when a name, like that, is put on somebody for so long, they start to get tired of it and want the name gone without having to change who they are. People really took that one out of context.
