Disney Gives Tinker Bell A Makeover

One of Disney's most iconic characters, Tinker Bell, has been given a makeover!

Most of you probably know, but she currently heads her own franchise called Disney Fairies, which is comprised of books, movies, and dolls of the fairies living in Neverland. The second movie in the series, Tinker Bell and the Last Treasure, will be out on October 27. And to reflect the film's fall setting, Tinker Bell was given a new outfit!

"The weather is cooler [in fall], and her outfit should reflect that," says Pixar co-founder John Lasseter. "It made sense she was going to put on a jacket, leggings, and boots. This is sort of a new phase for Tink, and the look brings her up to the current feeling we are trying to convey."

But there's one thing they didn't dare to mess with. "We kept her iconic white pompoms on her boots. I love those pompoms. They are what make her adorable." Agreed!

On an interesting side note, when Disney characters have their appearances altered, manufacturers of merchandise such as toys and dolls must make changes to their products accordingly. Also, the costume for the character in the Disney theme parks must also change. So far, this hasn't been a problem for Tink. The new costume designed for Disney workers dressed as Tinker Bell is made of more organic, eco-friendly materials.
