Disney's animation department hasn't really found much success recently. They turned out several classics in the 1930s to the early 1960s like Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Jungle Book, and Sleeping Beauty, among others. Then they went into a rut before going into their golden period with The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Mulan, and Tarzan. Then they went back into a rut and the only animated movies from their company really becoming successful were the Pixar films.
Well, not anymore! Disney presents the first trailer for the longly awaited The Princess and the Frog, the studio's first 2D animated film since 2004 and their first princess movie since the 1990s. And, just to throw in another fun fact, the main character will be the first African American Disney Princess! Good news!
The film comes out during the Christmas season of 2009.
