The nominations for the 60th annual Primetime Emmy Awards were released today, and High School Musical 2 is being honored!
The Disney Channel Movie has been nominated for Outstanding Children's Program. It's competition is "Classical Baby", "Nick News", and Disney Channel's very own "Hannah Montana" and "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody".
"Nick News" is pretty hard to beat considering it educates kids on the issues of the world which include terrorism and gay rights.
High School Musical 2 has also been nominated for Outstanding Choreography. This time it's competition is the reality shows "Dancing With the Stars" and "So You Think You Can Dance" (nominated 3 times in this category!).
The original High School Musical won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography and tied for Outstanding Children's Program with the documentary I Have Tourette's but Tourette's Doesn't Have Me.
It was also nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie, or a Dramatic Special, Outstanding Casting for a Miniseries, Movie, or Dramatic Special, and Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for "Get'cha Head in the Game" and "Breaking Free".

Isn't it weird to think that High School Musical 3: Senior Year might be nominated for an Oscar next year??
