The third High School Musical project was simple referred to as High School Musical 3 when it was first announced. After the first draft had been written in February 2007, Disney announced that the title was Haunted High School Musical, and that it would have a Halloween-themed plot. That July, some cast members said the haunted aspect had been dropped and the movie was now simply called High School Musical 3 again. Then, rumors began circling the Internet that the subtitle Gradu-Dancin' was being used for the film's title. Disney neither confirmed nor denied these rumors. Finally, in January 2008, Disney announced that the film was officially titled High School Musical 3: Senior Year.
