Earlier this month, reports circled the internet that Ashley Tisdale had contracted HIV from her nose job in November 2007. Some reports claimed that she was given AIDS and was given only a few months to live.
Now, after the rumors were put to rest, Ashley's mom, Lisa Tisdale, is speaking out. "My daughter is healthy and just fine," she assures Star magazine. "...My husband and I just don't know why anyone would spread such a rumor."
Here's the ironic part. Ashley does work for people who truly are infected by the virus. Explains Lisa, "Ashley works with the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatrics AIDS Foundation and supports kids with HIV. She spends a lot of her time with these children and knows firsthand how devastating the illness is. To make it into some kind of sick joke is just cruel and insensitive to all the people who are affected by HIV.
Ashley's mother continues to say that it is irresponsible for media outlets to release such a story with an uncredited source. Ashley wants to be a role model and has maintained a lovely image based on her work and these internet stories nearly destroyed that.
Reason 2 Gazillion of Why We Love Ashley: Who would have thought that she did charity work? It went completely under the radar until now. She does good deeds but does not need to attention like other celebrities who use the charity work to help their own image.
