Reevaluating the Fame: Zac Efron

We've decided to start a new series of posts (similar to our 10 Fun Facts series) in which we share our thoughts and predictions for the fames of the High School Musical movies and stars. First up... we have Zac Efron! For all of 2006 and the first half of 2007, High School Musical was only famous for its success. It wasn't until summer 2007, when the hype of High School Musical 2 was growing at a rapid pace, that stars like Zac Efron began gaining media attention and breaking out of their Disney fame. Zac Efron was the first star to do so. With his role in the successful remake Hairspray, Zac officially became a celebrity. Of course, it's obvious that his status as a hunk and relationship with costar Vanessa Hudgens fueled his stardom.

Now we read about Zac left and right: how he's receiving all these offers to act in movies, how he's done with Disney, whatever. Just as his costars from High School Musical and other young stars like Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers, Zac Efron will be over before he even starts.

Ever since receiving fame, like most celebrities, Zac's following has been divided between worshiping fanatics and outraged critics. It won't be long before the majority of people are tired of Zac and will have moved on to other celebrities. Of course, Zac is smart enough to be trying to secure a strong foundation in the movie business that could give him promising fame for decades. But he has been beaten out for roles in Speed Racer and The Prince of Persia. Maybe he's less-wanted than we are led to perceive.

We predict that Zac will eventually end up on Perez Hilton as "remember this guy?". Naturally, we hope not!
